~*~The Guild Charter~*~

1. The Council - We have in place a dedicated Council to ensure The Sanctuary is regulated as a happy and safe environment for its members. If a member of the Council (Class Masters, Crusade Leaders, Guild Guardians or The High Priestess) makes a reasonable request, guild members are required to follow this request without argument. If you disagree with a request from a Council member please detail your disagreement in writing and send to Psellia and your claim will be investigated thoroughly. The Sanctuary would like to take pride in its Council and, through the Council, provide the best possible support to guild members. Privilege of rank carries responsibility and Council members are expected to go that extra mile for the guild. If any guild member feels that they are not getting the help they should from a Council member, please report this to Psellia and valid complaints will result in a warning being issued to the Council member in question. Should the offending behaviour continue, the Council member risks demotion to the next appropriate rank. This is not intended to cause offence or undue pressure to Council members, but to ensure that each Council member takes the responsibility of their rank seriously.

2. Language - Due to the nature of the Jaedenar Realm written expression in all guild areas must be in English and English only. This is not intended to alienate guild members whose first language is not English, but to ensure all members are able to understand each other in all guild common areas and channels. This also applies to guild parties of any nature. Of course, you are free to whisper/mail other guild members in any language you wish.

3. Ranks - Promotions will be offered to those members who have fulfilled the stated criteria (see Ranks Page) and applied for the position in the correct manner. Empty positions will be advertised on the Council Page and applications must be made via the <Apply Now> tag - please do not apply unless the <Apply Now> tag is visible. Under no circumstances should any member contact the Council directly to request promotion - applications in this manner will not be considered. Please note that positions in the upper ranks are limited and are not subject to change: i.e. if the Council is fully staffed, no other positions will be created other than in circumstances of great need.

4. The Bank - In the interest of all members strict regulations are placed on the use of the Guild Bank. To ensure the bank is used fairly, and to minimise the possibility of abuse, only the higher ranks of the guild are able to make withdrawals. This does not mean, however, that lower ranks are excluded from using the bank. If you are in need of a particular item but do not have the authority to take it yourself, please ask a Guild Guardian to withdraw it for you. The Sanctuary does not authorise members to use the bank for repairs unless you have participated in a guild organised raid. Please do not deposit anything you wouldn't be happy for other guild members to use. If you want to keep the item - put it in your own bank!

5. Behaviour - The Sanctuary would like to be known throughout the realm as a friendly and responsible guild with mature members and a positive attitude to the gaming experience. We expect all members of the guild to behave in a manner that promotes this image and all members should display respect for their fellow gamers, both within and outside the guild. The Sanctuary will not tolerate profanity or obscenities from guild members or any behaviour likely to cause offence or discrimination to others. This includes language that is racist, sexist, or homophobic. Failure to abide by this code of conduct will result in disciplinary action being taken against you (see ‘Retribution’ below.)

6. Begging - Begging is unacceptable in all shapes or forms. The Sanctuary is a 60+ Guild and therefore no guild member should have unmanageable money difficulties. If it becomes apparent that any member is begging, either to guild or non-guild players, disciplinary action will be taken, as this kind of behaviour does not reflect well on our guild. Working and saving for mounts, mats and equipment is all part of the game, so unless you are hit by particularly unfortunate circumstances (in which case contact a Guild Guardian), get out there and get questing!

7. Retribution - Should you break the Guild Charter in any way, you can expect one of the following sanctions (punishments) against you:

  1. Demotion to a lower rank. Please note that if you are currently at ‘The Sanctuary Gates' this will result in dismissal from the guild.
  2. Silence. The Guild Council has the right to throw you outside ‘The Sanctuary Gates’ where no one can hear you.
  3. Fines which will be decided by the council and will be deposited as a donation into the guild bank.
  4. Expulsion from the guild.

8. Fines - Fines are the most commonly used method of retribution to use against members who have broken the terms of the Guild Charter. Not many Guilds use this as a method of punishment but since the release of the shared guild banks, it is a good way to ensure members abide by the Charter's rules. In addition to punishment being made, the guild bank benefits from the funds which we use for contests and events. If you are issued with a fine you will be placed at The Sanctuary Gates and will be given 7 days to pay. If you do not pay by that time you will be removed from the Guild. By joining The Sanctuary you agree to these terms and fines are set according to the severity of the crime. These sanctions will not be taken lightly and for the first offence you will usually be given a warning and a fine (unless the behaviour is particularly severe). However, repeated offences will result in the above sanctions being applied. For the sake of all guild members, we hope that all members will behave in an appropriate manner and that no sanctions become necessary.

9. Leaving - Whilst it is entirely acceptable to leave The Sanctuary, it would be greatly appreciated if you could let a member of the Council know your reasons for leaving. This will ensure that we will make any necessary changes to the way the guild is run in future. If you should subsequently decide to return to The Sanctuary then your request will need to be approved by a member of the Guild Council. Please note that constant desertion of the guild will lead to an indefinite ban and your name added to the Guild 'Black List'..

10. Psellia, Scarlat & The Guardians - Psellia is extremely busy and her Guardians equally so and although they are always there to listen or lend a hand, whispering unannounced is sometimes not 'heard' or inconvenient. If you do wish to speak to Psellia or one of The Guardians the best form of contact is by letter or via the guild chat. They do understand however that this is not always appropriate and incase of an emergency please use the whisper function. Having a fast growing number of guild members means that Psellia and her Guardians are constantly messaged throughout the day for things that other members or their class leader could answer just as well. Remember Psellia & The Guardians are on here to play too!

11. Guild Raids - Guild Raids are solely organised and run by carefully selected Crusade Leaders. Psellia, Scarlat and their Guardians have limited knowledge of Guild Raids so please do not contact them - see the Council page and contact a Crusade Leader. In order to participate in a Guild Raid your character must have met the Guild Class Requirements (See Raid Page), you must have Team Speak downloaded to your computer, their must be a need for your class in the team and you must have the required add-ons downloaded (See Raids Page). Failure to satisfy this criterea will likely result in you unable to Raid.

12. Absence - The Sanctuary understands if a member wishes to take leave from the game but we also wish to keep the Guild as active as possible. It is therefore suggested that should you take longer than 14 days leave from the game, you must send a letter to Psellia explaining why or you may have to reapply to join the guild when you return from your absence.
